Jacobs Bar & Kitchen – History
In the winter of 2008 JACOBS BAR & KITCHEN was re-opened.
We built one of the cities most modern kitchens, hired the best chefs and aimed high.
The history is still too young to say much more than we go the extra mile everyday to deliver
the best food, wine and service that we can be proud of.

Chefs
Our chefs have a wide variety of experience from hotels, cafes, bakeries and fine dining restaurants. Among our cooks we have award winners, Michelin star strivers, trendsetters and craftsman.
In addition we have a healthy sense of competition, as Petter won the 2008 Linea awards and
Oystein came to be Norways seafood chef of the year and also placed 5th in the Norwegian culinary championship 2008.

Sommeliers
We are lucky that we have not only one, but two sommeliers.
They use their extensive food and wine knowledge to put together a wine list that compliments
our ever changing menu – all at reasonable prices.
Mike and Joseph bring their experience from the United States and Norway and are well known in
their respective wine communities for there knowledge, passion and dedication.Inge, Siljie, Jack,
Henrik and Peder also make sure that your overall experience at Jacobs is as enjoyable as possible.

Owners
JACOBS BAR & KITCHEN, Dorm.no, and Jacobs Apartments are owned and operated by Marianne
and Erik Berstad. They have been a part of all aspects of the business from the beginning and
what we have at Jacobs is the direct result of their leadership.

Food Philosophy
We would like to be known as an eatery wit a focus on local ingredients, good ethics, consistency and reliability. As a Bergen restaurant our emphasis is especially on seafood and seasonability.
On our menu you will not find farmed or foreign fish, such as tuna. Instead we serve such beauties as saithe, crab, mussels and mackerel. The food is cooked with with a focus on method , quality
and flavor. We want JACOBS BAR & KITCHEN to be the natural easy choice when you decide
you simply want something good, or are out with colleagues, business lunches/dinners, any occasion.
